Emergency Food Relief

COVID has been multi-pronged in the devastation it has caused across the world. Families who have managed to survive in the past are now facing difficulties meeting even the most basic need of having enough food to eat. Because of our generous supporters and their commitment to the belief that “Every Child Counts” – we were able to meet this need for some children and families in India. In one effort, we worked with LWB USA and another partner organization to provide more than 400 with food supplies as well as masks and hand sanitizer. This particular project served families living in the urban slums in Bihar, India. The state of Bihar is one of the poorest in all of India with 70% of the population being impoverished. Even in a non-COVID situation, 35 million people in this region live on less than $1 USD/day and with COVID wreaking havoc on income sources, those numbers have become even more dire.
