In India, the demand for pediatric cardiac care is staggering, with congenital heart disease being the most prevalent congenital disorder, affecting 28 percent of cases. According to the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, around one-fifth of the 200,000 babies born with congenital heart disease require intervention in their first year, and approximately 80,000 children succumb to heart defects annually. Love Without Boundaries (LWB) has initiated a partnership with Amrita Hospital in Kochi, Kerala, renowned for its pediatric cardiology program since 1998. Recognized for its quality, affordability, and comprehensive services, the hospital serves families lacking emergency heart surgery funds. LWB offers financial aid and emotional support throughout the healing journey, embodying its commitment to saving lives one child at a time.
At just 6 months old, Alice's parents faced the daunting reality of her congenital heart defect, worrying about both her health and financial constraints, surviving on roughly Rs. 210 per day. Their fears intensified until they sought help from Amrita Hospital. With Alice now a year old, the hospital confirmed the necessity of immediate surgery, a daunting prospect for her family. However, their anxieties were eased when they learned that Love Without Boundaries (LWB) would support Alice's surgery. Quickly admitted to the hospital, Alice underwent mitral valve repair and ASD surgery, experiencing a remarkably smooth recovery. Within two days, she transitioned from the ICU to a regular room, offering hope for a healthier future.
