Last Saturday, June 22, 2024, we hosted our Adoption and Foster Care Awareness Workshop. The event aimed to provide a supportive and informative experience for those considering alternative child care like adoption or foster care.
The workshop’s interactive approach, guided by our expert trainer, effectively deepened participants’ understanding of the complexities surrounding adoption and foster care. Through engaging activities, parents gained hands-on experience in navigating the challenges and rewards of caring for vulnerable children.
One particularly impactful exercise was the “protect the egg” game. Participants were tasked with safeguarding an egg, symbolizing a child, from harm. This activity viscerally demonstrated the delicate nature of childcare and the constant vigilance required to ensure a child’s well-being.
Another powerful activity, the thread game, illustrated the fragile nature of relationships in a child’s life. In that game the threads represented various connections that were gradually severed.
