Starr – A Journey of Love, a Life Transformed
- 11 Jan, 2023
“I missed my mother. She left us long back. I watched other girls of my village spending time with their mother at home. I was longing for my mother’s love. Now I am happy. I got what I missed earlier.” Said Starr, a 14-year-old shy girl who is happily staying with her foster parents since 2021.
Starr lost her mother at very early age and her father, being disabled could not take care of her properly. So, she has been surrendered to State for further care and later on placed into LWB’S Foster Care Program.
Starr is studying in class 9 now. She is working hard to get a good percentage in her 10th board examination. She has found her own way to get good score. She now wakes up early and goes to bed early so that she gets more time to study. She explores ways to memorise things. She is reading out loud to prepare her studies properly.
Starr is good at sports. She plays badminton with her friends regularly. Also, she plays kabaddi. Her team won a match in School Kabaddi Championship. “I started valuing team work by playing this game” says Starr.
Starr loves to spend time in kitchen. She helps her foster mother in cooking in her free time. She likes to eat rice with lentil, spinach and fish for lunch and dinner. She is happy as her mother prepares her favourite food frequently.
Starr got her new family. Now she has one sister and one brother. She spends her leisure time chatting with her sister. They are planning a lot about how to enjoy the upcoming festive season. According to their tradition, they will offer paddy and vegetables to the God and will cook tasty meal out of those offerings. “I am eagerly waiting for the festival to enjoy to its fullest with my new family. I know for sure it would be fun” says Starr.
Starr is a unique girl. She always wants to extend her helping hand for family members, friends and neighbours who are in need. “Helping others is the goal of my life. I will continue to do that in my future journey as well. I get meaning of my life by helping others”.
Starr’s favourite time pass is to spend time on the terrace under starry sky. “Starry sky mesmerizes me always. I can spend hours to look at it. It’s fascinating!” Says Starr who herself has begun her journey to become a star with care, love and affection of her foster family!
We are grateful to our LWB community for supporting these children who are ready to bloom. We could not achieve this without you!
